It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and after a long time deliberating whether or not to write properly about my funny little brain, this feels like the right time to be honest, open, and help to end the stigma around mental health.
It’s April already, I can barely believe it. It feels like only a week ago I was bringing in the new year with my friends and several terrible renditions of Wonderwall. After months of allowing myself to develop some chub (ok, a year or so, whatever), and a year of being too skint for a gym membership, i’ve finally got enough motivation (and money) to get my arse in the gym, put some veg on my plate, and shift some of the excess rolls that have appeared since I began working full time.
I’ve done it, i’ve made it through January! A month where alcohol, dairy, meat, fish, cigarettes and fun were all banned in favour of staying in, keeping warm, and reading my book. I haven’t entered a pub since 2017 for God’s sake; it’s been a strange month.

We’ve all had rogue things inside our vaginas; a penis here, a tampon there, perhaps even an enormous dildo on occasion, but one thing that alarmingly few of us have had inside us is a speculum, more commonly known as “that plastic thing that looks like a duck that they use when you have a smear test”.
In keeping with my new year’s resolution, today I went for a run, and while I was utterly terrible and narrowly avoided vomiting in Sainsburys afterwards, i’m ready to do it all over again tomorrow.
Veganism is a lifestyle i’ve flirted with on and off over the past couple of years, a vegan month here, a vegan week there, being extraordinarily proud if I have the odd vegan day… It’s something I feel is good and right, but I am only human, and each time i’ve tried to have a go, my own cravings have brought an abrupt end to the vegan experiment. Continue reading “That’s it – i’m going vegan”
